Do I need to get my own transponder for Western Speedway? If so, where from and what kind? The cheaper the better, Thanks

As mentioned above loaner transponders aren't not available  outdoors. That being said 6ou can still race "ghost " you just won't be able to see lap times etc

We use the RC4 timing system, yes the hybrid 2 wire one will work and will work with the older rc2/rc3 systems as well. It's usually more expensive than the Rc4 three wire transponder, which is all you need for our track, and the Nanaimo track as well. They do pop up on the forum used for $75-100 from time to time as well. Matrix always has one in stock as is on par with buying one online. Most newbies start with one and switch it between cars to start racing,  but it is nice to have 2 once you can afford it. They hold their value well and sell fast. For reference :

Okay thanks for the answer, yes the Rc4 three wire transponder is the one I want to buy, I'm planning on buying 2 of them so 1 for the SCT and one for the buggy
