4wd sc woes
« on: March 22, 2016, 10:07:17 AM »
Hey guys, so  4wd sc  was kinda a gong show a couple times Sunday, and Some people  also have been asking me about setup on my truck and I see guys looking over my truck. My answer to both is simple !

SLOW DOWN !

I got pissed off just before xmas walked off the stand threw my truck the  whole pissed off attitude that has happened to everyone.  Since then I've slowed down and worked on consistent laps . Sunday during the mains I didn't  touch my brake for 9 laps, and the whole main I never pulled full throttle  I focused on running clean laps on the race line, I also tried not to force passes (although it's hard I did it a couple times  )  instead of looking at your  fast lap  look at you top 15 and see how close it is to your fasted lap ... mine was under half a second

If you can't control your speed with your trigger finger slow the settings on your radio and esc. Watch blake  he looks so slow  but he's not , hes so consistent  and just waits for guys to make mistakes.

I'm posting this from my  phone  so hopefully it's undestandable.and also I'm not trying to  gloat  and say I'm in Blake's league  so please don't  take it as that. I'm just trying to get guys to slow down !

Slower is faster I was told when I started racing and only recently its started making sense, as you understand and work on that the speed will come with it.

One day I'll try and record my radio inputs off my radio, as they are graphed real time in the screen. To show my driving style.

Thanks for bringing this up Richard. There was one particular 4WD SC race that was just flat out dangerous to marshal. I spent 8 minutes dodging trucks just trying not to get injured. It should not be like this! I had trucks hit me going full throttle through a marshaling area and also hit me going full throttle the wrong way down the track (and then hit me again two seconds later when I was back in the marshal area). If you wind up on the wrong side of a barrier, take your medicine and wait for a marshal (and for Pete's sake, get off the throttle when being marshaled).
Drivers were taking the kicker jump in the straight as a personal challenge to see how far they could jump and many times landing in the marshal area. I was in complete disbelief.
Drivers are ultimately responsible for Marshal safety; out of control vehicles only produce a track hazard and slow lap times.

Rules need to be inforced to make it safer and more enjoyable. ie: barrier jumping, walking off the stand. Get rid of points for fast time. Change something so people are racing for fun and not points. The fast guys lap the field 3 or 4 times in a race start them at back to minimize issues at the start. Just my opinion

One day we should set lap times to 20sec so if your run a under 20 sec lap it does not count. It could make for a interesting race. And teach guy how to run consistent laps

This may not be a super popular idea but...

Just take away the dumb 5.5/6.5 motors! Outdoors, fine. Indoors no.

There's no need for mod motors like that on a tight, small jumped, short track like yours. Said this before aswell.

Slower motors. Easier to drive and safer for those that shouldn't have them
Less tire wear
Less wear on, and less breakage of parts
Cheaper esc's
Easier on batteries

Maybe go to a 10.5 motor for any 4wd (buggy and sc) and 13.5 for 2wd? Or something along those lines.. Maybe 17.5 to match with nrc for indoor?

I know you guys like to have the crazy big power, but Ill keep running my old 10.5

Couldn't agree more.

And I really like Gorden's idea. Just like the Bomber class.

Something got missed there my "Couldn't agree more" comment was in response to Jarrod's post. But....whatever.
